Types of handrails for escalators and moving walkways

The thin railing base profile is made of tempered glass 10 millimeters thick and 90 cm high. The glass transparency of thin railings gives the escalator a modern look and is therefore the most popular type of railing among architects and interior designers. Manufactured in individual 1200 millimeter long pieces to standard dimensions, these panes of glass have no protective covers or barriers at the joints, providing a cleaner and more minimalist look. Customers can also order this type of balustrade in stainless steel or a combination of glass and stainless steel. The glass balustrade is the only type that includes an illuminated balustrade. The illuminated balustrade is located under the handrail and gives the escalator or escalator a more elegant look.

Solid railings

Solid balustrades are usually made of stainless steel, which is characterized by higher strength, making them more suitable for use in infrastructure facilities such as city subway stations, airports, railway stations, etc., as well as for outdoor escalators and moving walkways. Customers can order the inner railing panel in vertical or inclined position depending on their preferences.

Extended balustrade

Both types of handrails mentioned above can be extended when escalators and moving walkways are installed in a void where there is no handrail structure or there is a steep slope at the edges of escalator landings. Extended handrails can be used at the entrance, exit, or both. However, instead of an extended handrail, it is better to use a construction handrail with a 90 degree static slope of sufficient length to overlap the escalator handrail and create suitable protection.
