The purpose of the invention and use of escalators is for the transportation of people only. The transportation of bulky and heavy objects on escalators may cause damage or deterioration of the assembly, as well as jamming and wear and tear, and scratching of side and vertical panels. These situations can lead to accidents and create an unsafe environment. Regarding safety precautions;

Maintenance is mandatory for all types of escalators. There are two types of maintenance: monthly and annual. In general, the following procedures are applied during maintenance.

Cleaning operations: cleaning of station wells, cleaning of steps and handrails, cleaning of oil pans.
System control operations; control of the engine, steps, manual belt extension chains, control and regulation of the oil level in the automatic lubrication system, control of the clearance between the plinths and steps.
Operations on control of safety circuits: breakage of steps, jamming of manual belts, control of operation of contacts of directional belts and comb plate, control of operation of emergency stop button.
